Let Her Live in Peace: The Most Absurd Take Yet

Picture

If you run a fan page for a celebrity who has passed away, you eventually learn to expect a certain kind of comment. On my Farrah Fawcett Facebook page, I get plenty of lovely messages from people who genuinely adored her. And then there’s the other kind—the predictable, eye-roll-inducing line that shows up under almost anything I post: “Let her live in peace.”

It doesn’t matter what the post is. A gorgeous vintage photo? “Let her live in peace.” A birthday tribute? Same thing. "Let her live in peace." A lighthearted video clip? You guessed it. "Let her live in peace."

Let’s be honest: it’s a stupid comment. Farrah passed away in 2009—she is at peace. Posting a picture of her isn’t disturbing her rest. She’s not being jolted up every time someone hits the heart button. Fans aren’t summoning her spirit; they’re just celebrating someone they love. That’s the whole point of a fan page—to share memories, highlight someone’s work, and bring together people who cared about her. It’s like a digital scrapbook. Scolding fans for posting about Farrah is about as logical as walking into a museum and demanding they take down the art because the painter is dead.

People remember Farrah because she mattered. She inspired them, entertained them, and left a mark on pop culture. Honoring her isn’t disrespect—it’s appreciation. That’s how icons stay alive in people’s hearts. And if anyone understood the power of legacy, it was Farrah herself. Her foundation—the Farrah Fawcett Foundation—continues her mission of funding cancer research, supporting patients, and raising awareness. Sharing her photos and stories helps introduce new generations to her and sometimes even to the causes she cared most about. How could that possibly be a bad thing?

Meanwhile, the folks dropping the “let her live in peace” line aren't actual fans. They’re usually just passing through, tossing out a dramatic comment, and then disappearing into a brain fog induced by indulging in too many pot gummies. The real fans? They’re here because Farrah meant something to them. They enjoy the photos, the memories, the stories. They keep her light shining.

So, for the record. Farrah Fawcett is at peace. The people celebrating her aren’t disrupting anything—they’re honoring her life, her work, her impact, and even her foundation’s ongoing mission.
